More than 5,000 people have been killed and nearly 10,000 people are still missing in the flood-hit eastern Libyan city of Derna. Notably, an Interior Ministry stated that the death toll has exceeded 5,300 in the city of Derna alone from the flooding unleashed by Mediterranean Storm Daniel. The head of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Libya stated that around 10,000 people are thought to be missing after the major floods and the death toll is huge and might reach thousands.
