The Uttar Pradesh government is likely to lay the foundation stone for the new state Assembly building on the birth anniversary of the late Prime Minister and BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The new assembly building will replace the current one that was constructed in 1928. Significantly, the new building will be constructed by clubbing the premises of Lucknow’s Darul-Shafa and the nearby areas at the cost of Rs 3,000 crore. The construction of the new building will be completed before 2027 to ensure that at least one session of the incumbent state Assembly takes place in the new building.
