It’s time to celebrate as the Lok Sabha on September 20 passed a Bill to amend the constitution and provide one-third reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies. Members of the Lok Sabha cast their votes for the passage of the bill using slips. Notably, 454 Members of Parliament voted in favour of the bill while 2 voted against it. The seats already reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will also come with the purview of the women’s reservation.
