Actor Ananya Panday penned down a sweet birthday wish for her
father Chunky Panday, who has been popular for his comedic roles in Hindi cinema
and is known as Aakhri Pasta from the Housefull franchise.
Taking to Instagram, the Liger actor shared a throwback video on
her stories which she captioned, “Thanks for introducing me to the camera at
such a young age. Happy birthday Papatiiiiiii love you.”
Reacting to the video, Chunky wrote, “My baby forever. Love you.”
Ananya also shared a series of throwback pictures on her stories of
her father. Soon after she dropped the pictures it went viral on social media.
Chunky, who was born as Suyash Pandey in Bombay in 1962, began his
career as a successful lead actor back in the 80s and 90s. However, he soon
started getting roles that were second fiddle to the protagonist.
The actor expressed, “Failure is quite easy to handle because no
one is looking at you. Success is difficult to keep and not everyone could
handle it. I could not keep my success…”
It led him to go to Bangladesh and work there. He acted in six
films between 1995 and 1997 as hero in Bangladesh and all of them were successful.
Between 1997 and 2002, he got minimal work in Bollywood, playing
supporting roles in low-budget films like Tirchhi Topiwale, Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri
Jaan, Kaun Rokega Mujhe and Jwalamukhi.
Despite getting success in Bangladeshi cinema, Chunky decided to
make comeback in Indian cinema and reinvent himself after his wife Bhavna encouraged
him.
“When I came back, I learnt the value of success and learnt to
cherish it. I had a game plan in mind, which was not there in the beginning.
Maybe I was too young. There is a tendency to blame people, but you shouldn’t.
You are the creator of your success and failure,” he said.
Chunky decided to do films that will win over the younger audience.
The actor made a great return to the industry in 2003 with supporting roles in Qayamat:
City Under Threat, Elaan, Don: The Chase Begins Again and Apna Sapna Money
Money.
In 2010, he first played the role of Aakhri Pasta in multi-starrer film
Housefull. In the following sequels of the franchise, while many actors were
replaces, Chunky’s role was retained owing to his popularity.
During his second stint in Bollywood, Chunky made sure that he did
not restrict himself to just doing comic roles. Keeping this in mind, in 2017 he
played a crude villain in Begum Jaan, unfurling a new avenue. He then played antagonist
in Prassthanam, Saaho and web series Abhay.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Ananya is presently enjoying the
grand success of her recently released comedy film Dream Girl 2.
Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced by Ektaa R Kapoor and
Shobha Kapoor the film has Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday in the lead
roles.
Apart from this, Ananya will be next seen in director Vikramaditya
Motwane’s untitled cybercrime-thriller film.
Ecstatic about the project, Ananya had earlier said, “When
Vikramaditya Motwane approached me with this story, I just knew I had to be
part of it. As a filmmaker, he has been on my wish list for as long as I can
remember and I feel really lucky to be working with him this early in my
career.”
She also has Farhan Akhtar’s Kho Gaye Hum Kahan opposite actors
Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav.
She will also be making her web series debut with Amazon Prime
Video’s Call Me Bae.
