Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma slammed the Congress after its top
decision-making body, the Congress Working Committee (CWC), affirmed its
support for the rights of the Palestinian people to land, self-government, and
to live with dignity.
CM Himanta
said the grand old party’s resolution “has striking similarities” with Pakistan
and the Taliban’s statements.
He further
said sacrificing the nation’s interest to the politics of appeasement is in
Congress’ DNA.
The Assam
CM took to X and said, “Congress’ resolution has striking similarities with
statements of Pakistan & Taliban. Sacrificing the nation’s interest to
politics of appeasement is in Congress’s DNA.”
Israel
witnessed a surprise and unprecedented attack by Hamas, which rules the Gaza
Strip, in its southern parts on Saturday. More than 1,100 people have been
killed and thousands wounded on both sides.
The BJP
leader’s remarks came two days after the CWC, in a resolution passed at its
four-hour meeting on Monday, expressed its dismay and anguish over the war that
has broken out in the Middle East, where over a thousand people have been
killed in the last two days.
