Earlier today, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi held a virtual meeting with Mr. Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet. During their discussion, they focused on Google’s involvement in the expansion of India’s electronics manufacturing sector. The Prime Minister commended Google for its collaboration with HP in producing Chromebooks within Bharat.
The Prime Minister recognized Google’s “100 languages initiative” and encouraged the development of AI tools in Indian languages. He also urged Google to work on AI solutions for effective governance. Additionally, Prime Minister welcomed Google’s plan to establish its global fintech operations center at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar.
Mr. Pichai informed the Prime Minister about Google’s initiatives to enhance financial inclusion in India, using GPay and UPI to reach a broader audience. He emphasized Google’s dedication to contributing to India’s progress.
Furthermore, Prime Minister extended an invitation to Google to participate in the upcoming Global Partnership on AI Summit, to be hosted by India in New Delhi in December 2023.
