The BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) finalised
the names of 84 candidates ahead of the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections,
during a meeting held in the national capital on Friday.
According to a source, “The committee has finalised
the names of candidates for 84 seats. The list of candidates will be released
on Saturday. Discussion and decision on the remaining 75 seats will be done in
another round of meetings.”
Regarding the Chief Minister candidate, the source
said whoever is contesting the election is eligible for the CM position in
Rajasthan.
The Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan consists of 200
members.
The party had on October 1 released its first list of
candidates for 41 seats in Rajasthan. The CEC meeting convened on Friday at the
party headquarters office to finalise the names for the remaining seats.

President JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with CEC members and
former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje attended the meeting.
Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party released its first
list of the 41 candidates for the elections. The names of the candidates were
finalized at a meeting of its CEC that was chaired by the BJP President JP
Nadda on October 1.
The BJP has fielded Rajyavardhan Rathore, an MP from
Jhotwara, while another MP Diya Kumari has been fielded from Vidhyadhar Nagar.
Baba Balaknath has been fielded from Tijara and Kirodi Lal Meena from Sawai
Madhopur.
Elections will be held in the five crucial states of
Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram between November
7 and 30, and the results will be declared on December 3, the Election
Commission said. All 200 seats in Rajasthan will see voting on November 23.
