Wishes for Dussehra or Vijayadashami started pouring
in from many political leaders across Bharat as the nation celebrates the festivities
on Tuesday. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were
among others to extend their wishes.
“My heartiest wishes to all the countrymen on the holy
festival of Dussehra!” President Droupadi Murmu extended greetings to the
people of Bharat on Dussehra.
She wrote, “Dussehra, which is also celebrated as
Vijayadashami, inspires us to follow the path of truth and religion. On this
auspicious festival, I wish that we all keep moving forward on the path of
truth and justice with the spirit of welfare of the entire humanity.”
PM Modi took to X and said this holy festival brings
the message of ending negative forces as well as adopting goodness in life.
“Best wishes to my family members across the country
on Vijayadashami. This holy festival brings the message of ending negative
forces as well as adopting goodness in life. Wishing you all a Happy Vijaya
Dashami,” said PM Modi.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah wished the people on
Dussehra and said no matter how dense the darkness of unrighteousness is, the
victory of the light of righteousness based on truth is eternal.
The Home Minister took to X and said, “No matter how
dense the darkness of unrighteousness is, the victory of the light of
righteousness based on truth is eternal. Symbolic of the victory of virtue over
sin, ‘Vijayadashami’ is a festival that inspires and teaches us to always
follow the path of wisdom and truth. May Lord Shri Ram bless everyone. Jai Shri
Ram!”.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended
wishes to the nation on Dussehra.
“Falsehood and ego should be destroyed, truth and
humanity should reside in everyone’s life,” Rahul Gandhi said in a post on the
microblogging site.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also
extended his wishes to the people of the State on the occasion of
Vijayadashami.
“The festival of Vijayadashami symbolises the victory
of good over evil and truth over untruth. Today, the need is that we should be
free from ego in our lives, walk on the path of truth, and work together for
the social harmony of the state and the country,” an official release quoted
the Uttarakhand CM as saying.
Vijayadashami or Dussehra is a prominent Hindu
festival celebrated every year at the end of Navaratri.
It is observed on the tenth day of the month of Ashvin,
the seventh in the Hindu Luni-Solar Calendar. The festival typically falls in
the Gregorian calendar months of September and October.
The festival also starts the preparations for Diwali,
the important festival of lights, which is celebrated twenty days after
Vijayadashami.
