Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, currently in
Chhattisgarh for election campaigning, alleged that religious conversions are
taking place in the State led by his counterpart Bhupesh Baghel.
“We have to think about the situation to which the
Bhupesh Baghel Government has pushed Chhattisgarh. Religious conversions are
taking place. A conspiracy is being played to convert tribals in every part of
the State. Sanatan is being attacked,” he said.
Comparing the two States – Assam and Chhattisgarh – in
development work and infrastructure development, CM Himanta asked, “We should
think about what Congress has given in the last five years. Has he opened any
university in five years?
In Assam, medical colleges have been set up in each
district. There has been no basic transformation in Chhattisgarh. Baghel does
drama every time and he has opened a big market of religious conversion to
weaken Sanatan Dharma,” he stated.
“Why didn’t the PMs under the Congress rue at the
Centre build Ram temple and waited for PM Modi ji? It is because the Congress
has no devotion for Lord Ram and its leaders always worshipped Babar,” the
Assam CM slammed further.
“I have never seen any Congress leader visiting the
Ram temple during elections, but he doesn’t go to the Ram mandir as he is
scared that people of Babar will get annoyed and abuse him,” he added.
“Why did farmers in the state have to take loans? It
is because their children do not have jobs. The Baghel Government should have
worked to generate employment,” CM Himanta stated.
Meanwhile, CM Himanta responded to accusations of poll
code violations imposed by the Congress. He stated that he would reply if he
receives any notice from the Election Commission.
The Congress filed complaints against Union Home
Minister Amit Shah and Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing their comments during the
Chhattisgarh Assembly poll campaign.
The party submitted eight different memorandums of
poll code violations in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana to the chief
election commissioner and other election commissioners.
The Congress’s complaint against Himanta Biswa Sarma
was related to a speech he delivered while campaigning against Congress
candidate Mohd Akbar in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha.
The Congress quoted CM Himanta as saying, “If one
Akbar comes to some place, he calls 100 Akbars. So, send him off as soon as
possible, otherwise the land of Mata Kaushalya will get defiled.”
The complaint also stated the Assam CM’s allegations
against Chhattisgarh counterpart Bhupesh Baghel about religious conversion of
the Tribals in the State.
In another complaint, the Congress claimed that the Central
Government directed civil servants and Indian Army soldiers to promote the
achievements of the BJP Government.
Elections to the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly will
be held in two phases – on November 7 and 17.
