After the ongoing
ODI World Cup, team Bharat will take on Australia in a five-match T20I series
starting later this month. The series holds significance for team Bharat, as it
will give them a golden opportunity to prepare for the T20 World Cup scheduled
in the Caribbean and US next year.
As the T20I series
will begin on November 23, four days after the World Cup concludes, Bharat are
likely to rest their several first-choice players – Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma,
KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Shami – for
the Australia T20Is.
Also, as per
emerging reports, explosive Assam batter Riyan Parag could get his maiden
national call-up, as he has been incredible in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
So, as the
discussion revolves around Parag, let’s see what could be Bharat’s squad for
the Australia T20Is.
Batters
As Bharat have
done in the past, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill will likely be picked as
the top-order batters alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad, who will play the third opener’s
role.
The swashbuckling
duo of Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav will also be picked, with the middle
order comprising Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, Riyan Parag and back-up
keeper-batter Jitesh Sharma.
All-rounders
As Hardik Pandya
is recovering from an ankle injury, Bharat are unlikely to rush him right after
the World Cup. So, in all likelihood, Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar will be
the two all-rounders for the Australia series.
Bowlers
With Pandya likely
to miss out, Bharat will probably name Jasprit Bumrah the captain for the
Australia T20Is. Besides Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna are
expected to be picked as the seamers, with Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi
likely to lead the spin attack.
