In Delhi, the
overall air quality slipped back to the ‘severe’ category with AQI of 421 at 7
am on Wednesday. Just a day ago a marginal improvement was seen when it was in
the ‘very poor’ category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control
Board or CPCB.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has directed the AAP led Delhi Government to operationalise a smog
tower in Connaught Place and thus, the maintenance and service department officials have
reached the location immediately.
The Apex Court summoned
Delhi Pollution Control Committee chairman Ashwani Kumar for reportedly
shutting down the two smog towers in the national capital and directed it to operationalize
the towers immediately.
Additionally, to
ensure compliance with the pollution-related directives issued by the Supreme
Court, Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai has convened a high-level meeting
at the Secretariat at 12 noon today.
Transport Minister
Kailash Gahlot, Revenue Minister Atishi, and officials from the concerned
departments participated in the meeting.
Almost all the
stations except a few such as Lodi Road, JLN Stadium, Siri Fort, Aurobindo Marg
and Dilshad Garden recorded an AQI in the ‘severe’ category.
