Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated five
state-of-the-art indoor stadiums across five districts of the State in a bid to
encourage games and sports.
Speaking from the Regional Centre for Sporting
Excellence in Sovima, the CM mentioned that this move will promote the youth of
the State to be more inclined towards sports as better facilities will now be
available for them.
Neiphiu Rio was present to review the stadium in the
Chümoukedima District, while he inaugurated the stadiums in Nuiland, Noklak,
Tuensang and Tseminyu virtually.
The CM mentioned that this is the first phase of the Nagaland
Government’s comprehensive indoor stadium development program which aims to
create modern sports facilities across the State.
Expressing his happiness over the timely completion of
the projects at hand, he informed that the State Government sanctioned budget
for six such stadiums during 2021-22 with a cost of Rs 3.50 crore each and that
the future plans include the development of synthetic tracks, centers of
excellence, grounds, and sports complexes in different districts.
