The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) leader Lalduhoma was sworn-in as the new chief minister of Mizoram on December 8. Additionally, other ZPM leaders took oath as ministers during the ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan complex in Aizawl. The ZPM Legislature Party elected Lalduhoma as its leader and K Sapdanga as the deputy leader.
ZPM media cell General Secretary Eddy Zosangliana said that the Val Upa Council, an advisory body of the party, met Lalduhoma on December 6 to decide the formation of the council of ministers.
Lalrinpuii is the lone woman minister in the 12-member council of ministry. Seven out of the total 12 ministers are first time winners.
The other ministers who took oath on December 8 include cabinet ministers rank which is occupied by K. Sapdanga, Vanlalhlana, C. Lalsawivunga, Lalthansanga, Dr. Vanlalthlana, P.C. Vanlalruata, Lalrinpuii while the state minister ranks are occupied by F. Rodingliana, B. Lalchhanzova, Prof. Lalnilawma and Lalnghinglova
The ZPM, which received its registration as a political party only in 2019, emerged victorious in the assembly elections bagging 27 seats, increasing its tally from 8 in the 2018 polls.
The MNF, which won 26 seats in 2018 polls, managed to win only 10 this time.
