The Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival,
which is scheduled to begin from December 14 to 17, reportedly will be graced
by esteemed personalities from Hindi cinema such as Tanuja Chandra, Prakash Jha
and Adil Hussain.
The highly anticipated eighth edition of
the event will be held at Kahilipara’s prestigious Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio
in Assam capital Guwahati.
Other esteemed personalities such as Krishna
DK, Leena Yadav, Ronnie Lahiri, Harshad Nalawade, Miransha Naik, Paban Haobam
Kumar, Ketki Pandit, Sanjay Bhutiani will be present.
Founder Tanushree Hazarika expressed,
“We aim to be a catalyst, fostering meaningful cinema, connecting diverse
talents, and promoting the vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes of
Northeast India.”
Notably, the festival has forged a noteworthy
collaboration with Amazon Prime Video, enabling filmmakers a unique opportunity
to directly present their pitches to the leading OTT platform.
This partnership is speculated to
redefine the landscape for independent filmmakers, providing unparalleled
opportunities and elevating the standards of filmmaking, while also opening
doors within the industry.
The film festival reportedly garnered
over 200 film submissions for its 8th edition, with nearly 120 films hailing
from the Northeast and the remaining entries spanning across Bharat and 30
selected movies will be featured.
Highlighting the festival’s multifaceted
nature, its film festival programme director Pallavi Chumki Barua shared, “BVFF
is not just a film festival; it’s a cinematic odyssey offering an immersive
movie-watching experience, engaging interactions with filmmaking personalities,
dedicated masterclasses, workshops, and a celebration of the passion for
cinema.”
