In a remarkable boost to the
infrastructural development of Northeastern region, the Centre has approved a
total of 181 projects worth Rs 6,180.23 core under NESID scheme.
Of the total 181 projects, 25 projects
worth Rs 956.77 crore have been completed and the remaining projects are at
various stages of implementations.
The information provided by the Ministry
of Development of Northeastern region in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha
stated a total of Rs 1,788 crores were allocated under NESID of which 242.75
have been utilised for multiple projects.
Under the scheme, Arunachal Pradesh got
Rs 574.09 crore for 21 projects, Assam Rs 906.91 crore for 17 projects, Manipur
Rs 349.25 crore for 6 projects, Meghalaya Rs 501.50 crore for 8 projects,
Mizoram Rs 184.06 crore for 8 projects, Nagaland Rs 759.16 crore for 13
projects, Sikkim Rs 232.31 crore for 7 projects and Tripura Rs 299.62 crore for
6 projects all related to road infrastructure. Total cost is Rs 3,806.90 crore.
Under the scheme, Arunachal Pradesh was
sanctioned Rs 283.47 crore for 13 projects, Assam Rs 696.56 crore for 25
projects, Manipur Rs 291.15 crore for 15 projects, Meghalaya Rs 289.94 crore
for 9 projects, Mizoram Rs 284.76 crore for 13 projects, Nagaland Rs 118.88
crore for 8 projects, Sikkim Rs 56.38 crore for 4 projects and Tripura Rs
218.23 crore for 8 projects all related to other infrastructure development.
Total cost is Rs 2239.37 crore.
