Amid continued war on drugs, Tripura
Police and the Border Security Force-BSF fruitfully conducted two separate
operations, wiping out an astonishing total of over 63,000 cannabis plants.
The operations to destroy illegal cannabis
cultivation took place in Mohanpur under West District and Belonia under South
District.
In Mohanpur, Sub-Divisional Police
Officer Bijay Sen spearheaded an anti-cannabis mission in the Arkata area under
Sidhai Police Station.
The operation, executed meticulously,
involved the active participation of Sidhai Police Station Second
Officer-in-charge Ratan Debbarma, Sub Inspector Anti Alam, and a substantial
number of police and TSR forces.
The outcome was the eradication of
approximately 45,000 cannabis plants spread across 14 plots in the region.
Simultaneously, the BSF launched a
series of continuous operations against illegal Ganja cultivation.
In collaboration with CRPF, Narcotics
Control Bureau, Tripura Police, and the Forest Department, BSF targeted
Hataliya under Police Station PR Bari in Belonia sub-division.
The joint operation resulted in the
destruction of around 18,000 immature Ganja plants, spanning around 4.5 acres
of land. The plants were efficiently cleared through cutting, uprooting, and
burning.
This season alone, a staggering 5,47,900
plants have been eradicated across different parts Tripura, accompanied by the
reclamation of numerous acres of forest land.
