Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma
shared the transformative impact of the Asom Mala initiative of worth Rs 3,000
crore on December 18.
Under the initiative, the government is set to build High Speed Economic Corridor consisting
a 1,000 km-long roads and bridges, aiming to enhance all-weather and high-speed
Intra-State connectivity.
The project was approved by the Assam
Cabinet in October.
Taking to X, CM Himanta shared a video
and wrote, “The ₹3,000 crore Asom Mala initiatives is bringing people together
through a 1,000 km-long corridor of roads and bridges being built under the
scheme. With this we will achieve an all-weather and high speed Intra-State
connectivity.”

The project is connecting Assam through
a network of superlative roads.
The Assam Government has undertaken the
construction or refurbishment or extension of roads across the length and
breadth of the State.
These extensive networks of roads will
act as lifelines of the fast-growing State economy.
The Asom Mala initiative is bridging

Mala initiative are:

Under the SOPD program, several
milestones have already been achieved, including the completion of projects
such as Ghographur-Damodardham Bijulighat in Nalbari, Singimari-Sualkuchi (4
laning) in Kamrup, Garmur-Jengrai in Majuli, and Dhupguri-Dhekiajuli in
Sonitpur (96 per cent completed).
The Dolongghat to Tangla stretch in
Darrang is presently at 65 per cent completion.
The ASRIP initiative has seen noteworthy
projects like Dhodor Ali in Golaghat, Sarthebari-Pathsala in Barpeta, and
Balichapori-Majuli-Bongalmara in Lakhimpur, along with the construction of the
Subansiri River Bridge.
ASCCIP has successfully implemented
projects like Chapaguri Amteka at the Bhutan border, Jogighopa Oudibi in
Bongaigaon, Borkhola Kambar Bazar in Kalain, and Hailakandi Dwarbond.
NIDA, focusing on urban development, has
contributed to projects like Rowta-Missamari Road, Dirakgate-Pengerree Road,
Kokrajhar-Rupsi Airport (Kokrajhar Bypass), and Dergaon-Golaghat in Rangajan.
CM Himanta exuded optimism about the
Asom Mala initiative acting as a catalyst for socio-economic development,
fostering connectivity, and propelling Assam into a new era of growth.
