The Narendra Modi led Central Government
has provided Assam an additional instalment of tax devolution that is Rs
2282.24 crore. The amount is highest among all Northeastern States and Sikkim has
received the lowest.
The total sum of Rs 72,961.21 crore will
make State Governments robust for financing multiple social welfare measures
and infrastructure development schemes.
If we look for other States, Arunachal
Pradesh got Rs 1281.93, Manipur Rs 522.41, Meghalaya Rs 559.61, Mizoram Rs
364.80, Nagaland Rs 415.15, Sikkim Rs 283.10 and Tripura Rs 516.56.
Among two instalments, this was due to
States on January 10, 2024, and another Rs 72,961.21 crore was already released
on December 11 last year.
Many times the Central Government has
paid devolution to States ahead of allotted time. This June, one such advance
instalment in addition to the regular instalment was released to facilitate speedy
capital spending, development and welfare-related work and to make available
resources for priority projects, schemes or initiatives.
