Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that the government is following the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’ saying that his government is ensuring that many developmental benefits reach everyone. PM Modi held a long interaction with the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi, the official residence of the Prime Minister, on December 25. The celebrations had noted performance from school children and also presented a chair performance.
The Prime Minister wished everyone on this occasion, especially people of the Christian community.
“Our government is ensuring that the benefits of development reach everybody and no one is left out,” said the Prime Minister, informing that a lot of people of the Christian faith, particularly poor segments, are beneficiaries of the schemes of the government.
The Prime Minister stated, “The entire nation proudly acknowledges the contribution of the Christian Community”.
Prime Minister Modi was all in praise of the contributions of the Christian community to the freedom movement and pointed out various intellectual thinkers and leaders. He underlined that Gandhiji himself has pointed out that the Non-Cooperation Movement was conceived under the patronage of Sushil Kumar Rudra who was the Principal of St. Stephen’s College at the time. He discussed the crucial role played by the Christian community in giving shape to society and also mentioned their active participation in social service towards the poor and the deprived. The Christians had also made notable contributions in important areas of education and healthcare.
Reiterating on Bharat’s resolution to be a developed nation by 2047 and the significance of the youth in the journey, the Prime Minister stressed on the need for the physical, mental and emotional fitness of the youth. He requested the community leaders to generate awareness among the people of the ongoing movements for popularising fitness, millets, nutrition and the campaign against drugs.
The Prime Minister also had a discussion on Vocal for Local. “When we promote local products and become ambassadors of the goods made in Bharat, it is a form of service to the country. I would also urge the Christian community to be more vocal about local issues,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi addressed the similarity of values between different streams of social life that unites people as he gave exhibits of the Holy Bible, which focuses on the service of others. “Service is the supreme religion. In the Holy Bible, truth holds great importance and it is said that only truth will show us the path to salvation,” the Prime Minister said.
He also mentioned all the sacred Upanishads that focus on the knowledge of ultimate truth to liberate ourselves. “For the modern Bharat of the 21st century, this cooperation, harmony, and spirit of Sabka Prayas will take Bharat to new heights,” he added.
The Prime Minister wishes that this festive season would unite the nation as one and bring closer to every citizen. “May this festival strengthen the bond that keeps us united, in our diversity. May this occasion of Christmas fill all our lives with bliss. May the coming new year bring prosperity and peace for all of us,” the Prime Minister concluded.
