Sangeeta Das
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma
will not hesitate to take stern action against corrupt people, even if they are
from Bharatiya Janata Party. In a bold remark, the CM declared they will face
stern consequences if found involved in illegal land acquisition in the State.
CM Himanta believed these “land mafias
can’t be divided as BJP or Congressmen” because “they are culprits” and thus,
“nobody will be spared”.
Showing exemplary governance and unbiased
action against culprits, the Assam Police was able to vacate lands occupied
through illegal means by a section of land mafias. Consequently, the rightful
owners of the land were able to get back their properties, claimed the CM.
“The District Commissioners and Assam
Police have been working jointly to bust the entire nexus,” mentioned Dr
Himanta.
It is pertinent to mention that Guwahati
Police Commissioner Diganta Barah exposed a well-organized land-grabbing racket
in the State capital recently. The perpetrators were involved in producing fake
documents, and were probably hand in glove with government and police
officials, as well as some advocates.
Following the crackdown, police had
taken into custody at least three perpetrators, including BJP OBC morcha leader
Pankaj Das, in the last week for their alleged involvement in land-grabbing
activities.
Subsequently, he was fired from the
party that displayed the Himanta Sarma-led government’s unbiased action,
commitment towards eliminating illegal activities and ensuring justice.
