There is a possibility that the explosion that took place near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi is an attack, said Tel Aviv, putting out an advisory for Israelis living in Bharat and particularly in New Delhi. The advisory has instructed the Israelis to avoid crowded places such as malls and markets, especially the areas frequented by people from the community. It further advised them to stay alert and “avoid externalising Israeli symbols”.
“Avoid taking part in events with many participants as they are not secure. Avoid updating trip details on social networks and posting photos and visitation details before the trip and in real time,” the advisory says.
A blast occurred in the evening on December 26 near the Israel embassy in Chanakyapuri. Officials have informed about nobody being injured in the incident. An “abusive” letter was found near the site that addressed the Israeli ambassador which has been sent for forensic examination to check for fingerprints , they added.
After the explosion, teams of Delhi Police crime branch, a bomb disposal squad, a dog squad and the forensic department rushed to the spot. The site was additionally examined by the National Investigation Agency team.
Israeli embassy spokesperson Guy Nir mentioned that the blast took place around 5:48 pm. “Delhi Police along with the security team are still investigating the situation,” he said.
Deputy Chief of Mission (Israel) Ohad Nakash Kaynar has remarked, “All our diplomats and the workers are safe. Our security teams are working in complete cooperation with the local Delhi security and they will investigate the matter further.”
