Israel will continue its war against
Hamas in Gaza for many months, country’s military General Staff chief Herzi
Halevi to a broadcasting media journalist on Tuesday.
Herzi Halevi said Israel will employ
diverse methods to maintain the military achievements for a long time.
Stating that “there’re no magic
solutions” and “shortcuts”, Halevi remarked “only determined and persistent
fighting” will help “in dismantling a terrorist organization”.
He exuded confidence the Israeli
military “will reach Hamas’ leadership too, whether it takes a week or if it
takes months”.
Hamas fighters launched a brutal attack
into Israel on October 7, murdering as many as 1,200 people and taking 240
hostages. Since then, Israel pledged to annihilate the Hamas terrorists.
In counter-attack by Israeli Defence’s
air, sea and ground offensive in Gaza has killed close to 21,000 Palestinians,
as per authorities.
Halevi reminded about the previous
statement issued by the Israeli Military that the war will be for a long period
because “it was right to set far-reaching objectives… We will surely reach
far, that’s why the period will be long” that will permit the military to adapt
its methods.
Pointing that Israel ultimately, will
not be able to say “there is no enemy surrounding the State of Israel”, Halevi
mentioned, “I think that’s too ambitious, but we will form a new security
situation.”
