An airline company had suspended four airline staff following their arrest in alleged human trafficking at Delhi Airport, the airline said in a statement. The Air India SATS (AISATS) CEO, Sanjay Gupta informed that the staff engaged in facilitating the illegal activities are suspended from services and handed over to Delhi police.
“A collaborated operation including AISATS, the Delhi Airport Authority and CISF to uncover and prevent a human trafficking racket operating at Delhi Airport on December 27, 2023,” Gupta said.
“Three individuals made an attempt to illegally migrate and one of them was apprehended during the operation. Following this, the staff involved in supporting the illegal activities were suspended from services and duly handed over to the Delhi Police for further legal action,” he added.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) deployed at Indira Gandhi International Airport nabbed these four suspected airline staff and one passenger of being involved in “human trafficking, “earlier on December 28.
“On December 27, at 1:15 pm, CISF’s surveillance and intelligence staff positioned at IGI Airport sniffed suspicious activities of a passenger who was seated in the check-in area near departure gate No. 5. The passenger was then identified as Diljot Singh (Bharatiya), who was supposed to travel from Delhi to Birmingham by Air India Airlines flight,” the PRO stated.
In an AISATS statement, it reaffirms its unwavering commitment to maintaining operational integrity and upholding the highest standards of safety, legality, and ethical conduct.
