With an aim to revive its plummeting tourism sector during Corona pandemic, China will smooth out visa applications for citizens of United States visiting the Asian country, informed the Chinese embassy in Washington through its website.
The relaxation, with cutting down on required documents, will be applicable from January 1 and subsequently, the applicants aren’t required to submit hotel reservations, air ticket bookings or an invitation letter.
US is not the only country availing the relaxation. Previously, China paved the way for passport holders from France, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Spain and the Netherlands to tour the country sans visas from December 1.
The new simplified treatment will continue for the period of one year, during which visitors from those six countries can tour China for up to 15 days. China’s visa-free transit policy is expanded to 54 countries in November.
The number of inbound tourists to China declined during the pandemic due to the country’s tough control policies regarding Covid.
