Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, asserting the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat, said the radio program surpassed public appeal of the iconic and legendary television serials Mahabharat and Ramayan from the 1980s.
CM Saha made the bold remark after attending Mann Ki Baat’s 108th episode in his home constituency of Town Bardowali in presence of fellow party leaders and workers.
To watch Mahabharat and Ramayan on Doordarshan every Sunday, the CM recalled, children, women and men of all age would eagerly gather around their television sets.
Even at present, people including women are equally enthusiastic to tune into PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat on last Sundays of each month, he observed.
Acknowledging that audience of TV serials in the past and listeners of Mann Ki Baat at present time faced criticism, CM Saha suggested such things are insignificant as the people perceive the value of what they are watching or listening to.
His comparison of Mann Ki Baat’s enduring popularity with the epic serials indicated the radio program has become a pivotal part of the cultural fabric.
Through Mann Ki Baat program, PM Modi addresses the nation on multitude of topics and it has palpably struck a chord with the Indian populace.
