In a major boost to women empowerment, an
all-girl band consisting 45 from the Northeast region is participating for the
first time in the National Cadet Corps or NCC Republic Day Camp 2024.
Expressing pride over the matter, CM
Himanta wrote on X post, “For the first time, an all-girl band including 45 from
Northeastern region are all set to take part in the NCC Republic Day camps
2024.”
The chief minister extended congratulations
and best wishes to the band for the upcoming performances.

These girls, aged between 13 and 15, are
displaying the rich cultural heritage of the Northeast, accentuating the NCC’s
reach all over Bharat.
As many as 2,274 cadets, including the
highest participation of 907 girls, from many regions are part of the
month-long camp. Among these girls, 122 are from Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, and
177 from the Northeast, said NCC Director-General Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh.
The camp, additionally, will witness participation
of cadets and officers from 25 friendly nations under the Youth Exchange
Programme or YEP.
They will discover and get acquainted with
Bharat’s deep and rich traditions, values, through this, while the Indian
cadets and officers will further enhance unity in diversity and national
integration.
Many dignitaries, including the Vice
President, Defence Minister, State Defence Minister, the Chief of Defence
Staff, and the three Service Chiefs, will grace the occasion.
The major activities of the NCC last
year included 39 Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat camps, Megacyclothon, Nari Vandhan
Run, exceptional performance in sporting events, mountaineering expeditions,
and participation in G20 events as highlighted by Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh.
Instilling leadership qualities, personality
development, and enhancing the soft skills of cadets to equip them for their
future needs are the core aim. Subsequently, this will metamorphose them into
better citizens as well as inculcate the spirit of the nation first, he noted further
asserting on the idea of refined training philosophy.
