To mark the Ram temple’s consecration in
Ayodhya, the Assam Government during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief
Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a “dry day” on January 22.
The much-awaited significant ceremony will be graced
by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled States along
with over 6,000 people.
Besides, the government will raise the administrative
and financial powers of three development councils for the communities of Mising,
Rabha Hasong and Tiwa. For the purpose, the Assam Government will send a
proposal to the Centre, said Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah after
conclusion of the cabinet meeting.
To support and encourage as many as 49
lakh entrepreneur women of SHGs or self-help groups for their business ventures,
the Assam Government approved funds under an existing scheme.
The government staff and pensioners, who
were not eligible previously and have yearly income below ₹ 4 lakh, will now get
additional benefits under the National Food Security Act or NFSA. Besides, under
the Ayushman Bharat scheme, they will get health insurance of ₹ 5 lakh.
