Amid escalating diplomatic row over derogatory remarks by three ministers of Maldives, their subsequent suspensions and summoning of envoys of Bharat and the Island Nation, Israel will commence the desalination program in Lakshadweep on Tuesday.
Following the Federal Government’s request to initiate the desalination program, a team of the Israeli embassy was there “in Lakshadweep last year” and thus, “Israel is ready to commence working on this project tomorrow”. The move is expected to further boost tourism in the Indian archipelago.
The Israeli embassy, appreciating the pristine beaches and majestic underwater beauty of Lakshadweep Islands, shared images “for those who are yet to witness” and experience the island’s enchanting allure.

Diplomatic tensions between Bharat and the Maldives brewed over disparaging statements against Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the Mohamed Muizzu Government’s three ministers.
They had hit out at PM Modi following his visit to Lakshadweep and interpreting the move as a bid to taut the Indian Island territory as a better substitute for the Maldives as tourist destination.
Reacting sharply to it, many Indians cancelled their holidays in the Maldives and celebrities urged people to explore domestic tourist destinations instead of going there, escalating the controversy further.
The Muizzu Government was swift enough to distance itself from the now suspened minister’s comment, calling it their personal view. However, the External Affairs Ministry summoned the Maldivian envoy and vice versa happened.
It is interesting to know Google searches for Lakshadweep are at their highest in the last 20 years by a huge margin.
Travel company MakeMyTrip has observed a 3,400 per cent increase in on-platform searches for Lakshadweep ever since PM Modi visited the Indian islands.
It inspired the company to launch a campaign titled – Beaches of India – on the platform. It surely has offers and discounts to boost deep exploration of stunning beaches.
