Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently held a meeting with the Group Chairman and CEO of Emirati multinational logistics company DP World, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem in Gandhinagar. During this meeting held on January 9, they discussed plans to further increase investment in Bharat.
In a post on X, PMO said the discussions especially centred around the creation of sustainable, green and energy-efficient ports and world-class sustainable logistic infrastructure.
Following the meeting with the prime minister, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem informed of his Group’s investment of almost two-and-a-half billion dollars and plans to invest more in the next three years. “We have a lengthy history in Bharat and we are more committed,” Sulayem said.
“In capacity of a market and as a trade partner, Bharat is respected around the world. We are also discussing specific areas and lands around the world in Africa mainly for Bharatiya entrepreneurs to manufacture.”
“Tanzania, Kenya, Senegal, Nigeria, Central Africa, East Africa is something we’re going to do now, urging the Bharatiya companies to manufacture in the designated area, and these are the main issues of discussion for today’s meeting”.
DP World’s stay in Bharat for close to two decades now.
“Our operation and knowledge of the market intills courage and confidence and the policies of the prime minister,” the CEO said.
Talking about the CEPA agreement and how it benefited the two countries, he said, “Bharat enjoys an amazing relationship. Post the signing of the CEPA agreement, an increased amount of products are today going even more to Bharat and more from our country to Bharat.”
The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit was an initiative started by Narendra Modi in 2003, then chief minister, to place Gujarat on the world map of trade and industry. The tenth edition of the Summit is scheduled from January 10 to 12, 2024. To ensure the smooth conduct of the event, several committees have been formed to look after various aspects of the summit.
