In a groundbreaking move to support the
women of Sikkim, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has launched the Sikkim Aama
Sahayog Yojana, providing an annual allocation of four LPG cylinders to
eligible mothers across the State.
Recognizing the plight of many women in
economically challenged households resorting to traditional cooking methods
with firewood, CM Tamang has taken proactive measures to ensure that essential
cooking resources remain affordable and accessible to every Sikkimese family.
The announcement, made during the second
day of the Jan Bhet Karyakram in Pipalay, Soreng District, generated enthusiasm
among the residents. CM Tamang, warmly received in Pipalay, began the day with
a distinguished guard of honour by the 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion.
The initiative, part of the Jan Bhet
Karyakram that commenced on January 10 at the Zoom-Salghari constituency,
reflects CM Tamang’s commitment to addressing community concerns. During the
event, he emphasized the importance of unity and collective benefits.
As part of the program, he declared the
Chief Minister Gold Cup Football Tournament, scheduled to begin on January 15,
promising a sports extravaganza encompassing football, volleyball, and various
other events.
The CM urged the community to actively
participate, ensuring an inclusive and joyous celebration without tax
collection.
Addressing the crowd, CM Tamang
reiterated the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party’s dedication to addressing
healthcare and employment concerns for the people of Sikkim. He announced the
forthcoming distribution of appointment letters on a district-wise basis,
emphasizing equal opportunities for citizens across the region.
“Our party, SKM, has always been at the
forefront of assisting our people, especially those in remote areas. We are
aware of the difficulties faced by residents, who cannot travel to Gangtok for
medical treatment, and our party is dedicated to bridging this gap,” stated CM Tamang.
