Michael Jackson’s biopic titled ‘Michael’, is under preparation to release on big screens on April 18 in 2025, according to Variety. Under the direction of Antoine Fuqua, the biopic stars the late King of Pop’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson. This marks Jaafar Jackson’s first major role. Lionsgate has decided to release the film domestically whereas Universal will take care of the international distribution. The shoot of the film commences on January 22.
The movie is produced by “Bohemian Rhapsody’s” Graham King and written by John Logan. The official synopsis read, “‘Michael’ shows the audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who rose to become the King of Pop The film is a testament to his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale, covering his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances. The audiences will experience a never before inside look into one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known.”
John Branca and John McClain, who are the co-executors of Michael Jackson’s estate will also join hands to produce the film.
Fuqua just finished directing his third movie called ‘Equaliser’, starring Denzel Washington, for Sony Pictures. Prior to this, he had directed Will Smith’s enslavement thriller ‘Emancipation’, which was released by Apple in 2022.
