The Central Government sponsored
innovative initiative Vidyanjali 2.0 is not just linking alumni with schools in
Assam, it’s propelling the State to the forefront of successful implementation
nationwide.
In this groundbreaking effort to
strengthen schools through voluntary support, Assam has clinched the top spot
in assets and materials contribution and secured the second position in service
contribution. The State is also prominently featured among the leaders in
volunteer registration and asset or material contribution.
Vidyanjali 2.0 aims to harness the
voluntary support of individuals, retired professionals, government officials,
NGOs, CSOs, CSR, and community members by encouraging contributions of
services, activities, assets, and materials of their choice.
The portal facilitates past students,
former teachers, professionals, private organizations, NGOs, corporates, and
current employees to make meaningful contributions to their alma mater or any
educational institution they are associated with.
As per the Samagra Shiksha Assam or SSA annual
report, the State’s implementing body for the scheme, Vidyanjali 2.0’s success
in Assam is evident in the impressive statistics: 98.53 per cent of government
and provincialized schools, totaling 43,929, are registered on the Vidyanjali
portal.
Remarkably, Assam boasts the highest
number of registered volunteers in the country, with 52,585 individuals
committed to contributing to schools.
The impact of this initiative extends
beyond registrations, with 19,706 assets and materials donated, ranging from
play equipment and laptops to chairs, desks, books, and lab equipment.
The generosity of individuals, alumni,
organizations, and the community is further highlighted by the donation of
1,01,009 ceiling fans and 5,992 exhaust fans under the Vidyanjali 2.0 scheme.
Volunteers have stepped up, providing
1,073 services and activities, including classes on various subjects, art and
craft, yoga, music, career counseling, mental health and well-being, self-defense,
vocational skills, and more. Vidyanjali 2.0 is not just a program; it’s a
transformative force, reshaping the educational landscape in Assam.
