Assam’s crude oil production witnessed a
substantial surge in October 2023, according to the latest report by the Union
Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (Infrastructure and Project
Monitoring Division), titled – Review of Infrastructure Sector Performance,
October 2023.
The report delves into the production of
crude oil by key entities, namely Oil India Limited (OIL) and Oil & Natural
Gas Corporation (ONGC), shedding light on the dynamic energy landscape in the State.
In October 2023, OIL contributed 281.53 thousand metric tonnes, while ONGC
added 88.69 thousand metric tonnes, resulting in a cumulative production of
370.22 thousand metric tonnes for the month.
Comparing these figures with October
2022, the report notes that OIL’s production increased from 262.63 to 281.53
thousand metric tonnes, and ONGC’s production rose from 85.49 to 88.69 thousand
metric tonnes. The combined production showed a notable uptick from 348.12 to
370.22 thousand metric tonnes, indicating a substantial year-on-year growth of
22.1 thousand metric tonnes in October 2023.
Additionally, the report provides
insights into the crude oil production figures for Assam from April 2023 to
October 2023. During this period, OIL’s total production stood at 1,903.57
thousand metric tonnes, while ONGC’s output reached 607.60 thousand metric
tonnes.
The production figures for 2023 reflect
the ongoing dynamism and growth in Assam’s energy sector.
