Indian-American Republican leader Nikki
Haley, the sole woman in the party’s presidential race, emphasized her
commitment to winning the presidency and dismissed any interest in the vice
presidency.
As the Iowa caucuses kick off the
Republican contest for the 2024 elections, Haley maintains a solid position as
a contender, challenging former President Donald Trump.
In a recent CBS News interview, Haley
affirmed, “I’m running to be president, and I’m running to win. I’m not
interested in being vice president.”
With 20 per cent support, Haley’s stance
contrasts with Donald Trump, who leads the Republican race by securing 48 per cent backing, as per the
latest Iowa Poll.
Addressing voters torn between her and
Trump, Haley warned against “four more years of chaos,” emphasizing the close
competition between Trump and Biden in head-to-head polls. She anticipates a
two-person race, positioning herself against Trump as they head into New
Hampshire.
Haley’s rising popularity in recent
weeks, positions her as a viable contender, challenging the dominance of Trump
in the GOP race. Born to Punjabi Sikh parents, the two-term Governor of South
Carolina aims to make a significant impact in the primaries, with the New
Hampshire primary scheduled for January 23 and South Carolina on February 3.
