Iranian State media reported missile
attacks on two bases belonging to the Balochi militant group Jaish al Adl in
Pakistan. This incident occurred following Iran’s missile strikes on targets in
Iraq and Syria conducted by the elite Revolutionary Guards a day earlier. The
Balochi militant group has previously been involved in attacks on Iranian
security forces along the border with Pakistan.
The Iranian State media provided scant details,
merely stating, “These bases were hit and destroyed by missiles and drones.”
According to Iran’s Nournews, affiliated
with the country’s top security body, the attacked bases were situated in
Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
Pakistan’s Balochistan Province Information
Minister Jan Achakzai refrained from confirming or denying the attack. Instead,
he urged patience, stating, “Wait for the response of ISPR,” referring to the
Pakistani military’s public relations wing.
Pakistan, however, expressed its
concerns, revealing that two children lost their lives in the missile strikes.
The country issued a stern warning, deeming the incident “completely
unacceptable” and foreseeing “serious consequences.”
A statement from Pakistan asserted, “A
strong protest has already been lodged with the senior official concerned in
the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran. Additionally, the Iranian
charge d’affaires has been called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to convey
our strongest condemnation of this blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty
and that the responsibility for the consequences will lie squarely with Iran.”
As of now, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has
not provided an immediate response or comment on the matter. The situation
remains tense, with both countries navigating the repercussions of the recent
events.
