Indian-American Republican entrepreneur
Vivek Ramaswamy has officially pulled out of the 2024 Presidential race and has
chosen to endorse former President Donald Trump. His decision comes after Trump’s
decisive victory in the Iowa caucuses, solidifying his position as the
frontrunner for the Republican nomination.
The Iowa caucuses, a pivotal early test
in the US Presidential fray, posed a significant challenge for Ramaswamy.
Despite his background as a biotech entrepreneur, he struggled to gain
traction, trailing behind not only the twice-impeached former President but
also fellow contenders Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley.
CNN reported with 96 per cent of the
results available, Ramaswamy was projected to secure only three out of 40
delegates in Iowa. Acknowledging the outcome at a press conference, he stated, “We
did not achieve the surprise we wanted to deliver tonight.”
In a post on X, Ramaswamy expressed his
commitment to advancing Trump’s candidacy, emphasizing the campaign’s focus on
truth.
“We did not achieve our goal tonight, and
we need an America-First patriot in the White House. The people spoke loud and clear
about who they want. Tonight I am suspending my campaign and endorsing Donald J
Trump and will do everything I can to make sure he is the next US President.”
Despite his withdrawal, Ramaswamy
assured his supporters this setback was not the end. Speaking to a crowd, he
explained, “There is no path for me to be the next president absent things that
we don’t want to see happen in this country.”
The entrepreneur shared the stage with
the former President at a rally in New Hampshire, affirming their alliance. In
a social media post, Ramaswamy stated, “Not going to hold back, now through the
finish line.”
While initially digesting the Iowa
results, Ramaswamy used social media to reassure his supporters, stating, “Don’t
despair, this isn’t the end of the road. It’s the beginning of a new one. We
have a country to save and we will do it together.”
