In a noteworthy economic development,
Assam has successfully exported around 1,000 kg of Lablab beans, locally known
as Urohi, to the markets of London in England, adding another achievement to
the State’s growing list of international exports.
The consignment, produced by the farmers
of Dihingparia Farmer Producer Company or FPC in Nitaipukhuri, Sivasagar district,
marks the second successful export by the FPC. Notably, a recent export of 500
kg of Urohi preceded this accomplishment.
State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora
shared the news of this successful export, highlighting the consistent efforts
of Assam’s farmers to expand their reach in international markets.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma
expressed his satisfaction on X stating, “Glad to learn about the export of
1,000kg of Lablab Beans to London. The demand for Assam’s agri products in the
international market speaks volumes about the hard work put by our farmers and the
government’s commitment to overhaul our agriculture sector.”

This recent achievement follows a
significant milestone when a shipment consisting of 5,000 Assam lemons or Kaji
Nemu and approximately 500 kg of Lablab beans was successfully exported to
London in December 2023.
