During the golden jubilee celebrations
of the Karbi Youth Festival at Taralangso in Diphu, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta
Biswa Sarma declared a substantial financial boost for the event. Starting from
the next year, the Assam Government will provide an annual financial grant of
Rs 3 crore for the organization of the Karbi Youth Festival.
Addressing the large gathering, CM Himanta
highlighted the KYF as the oldest festival in the Northeast, dedicated to
promoting folk culture. Emphasizing the need to elevate the festival to a
leading youth event, he expressed his vision for its continued success.
CM Himanta mentioned, “I feel that the
time has come for us to take this youth festival to a new dimension. We can
convert this youth festival into a leading festival in the country by building
on the success of the last 50 years. I would like to inform you all formally
that the Assam Government will provide financial assistance of Rs 3 crore every
year to celebrate the Karbi Youth Festival. The grant will be provided by the
Department of Culture of the State Government.”
He acknowledged the KYF’s historical
contribution to fostering unity, peace, and brotherhood among diverse
communities in Karbi Anglong.
The CM expressed confidence that the
festival would significantly contribute to the promotion and preservation of
Karbi culture and heritage both nationally and internationally.
Dignitaries present at the event
included Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Tuliram
Ronghang, Assam Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Dr Nomal Momin, Revenue and
Disaster Management Minister Yogen Mohan, and Power Minister Nandita Garlosa.
