To ensure the smooth conduction of the caste census in a fair and comprehensive manner, the southern state wants to portray its enumeration exercise as a role model across the country.
Initially, the caste census was set to cover only the 139 Backward Classes (BC) communities but now its scope includes all castes in Andhra Pradesh.
As part of the census, the state government plans to extensively deploy the village secretariat system for the caste census, combined with the volunteer system.
