Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated
a first of its kind Cyber Security Operations Centre at the Assam Rifles
headquarters in Shillong, Meghalaya. The facility, equipped with state-of-the-art data monitoring
devices to provide services round the clock, will enable real-time monitoring
of the network, prevention of external threats and cyber violations in the
Assam Rifles Wide Area Network or ARWAN.
ARWAN is a computer network spanning a
large geographical area connecting offices and data centres in numerous locations.

Assam Riffles Director PC Nair elaborated
upon the importance of safeguarding “our networks from nefarious intruders,
hackers and other cyber incursions” in present time amid “the increased cyber
attacks”. Integration and management of diverse aspects affiliated with the
security operations is strengthened with the present infrastructure, he mentioned.
The Home Minister hailed the concerted
efforts of Assam Rifles in ensuring secure and seamless digital services within
the force.
Shah, currently on a three-day visit to
Meghalaya and Assam, is scheduled to participate in the sessions of the North
Eastern Council as well as the NESAC Society in Shillong on January 18. The
same evening, in Assam’s Tezpur, he is scheduled to visit the Mahabhairab
temple for cleanliness drive and attend a cultural programme dedicated to late Assamese
musician and singer Bhupen Hazarika.
The itinerary extends to attending the Sashastra
Seema Bal’s Raising Day function in Tezpur, All Bathou Mahasabha’s conference
in Sonitpur on January 20.
In Guwahati, Shah will attend the
passing out parade for 2,551 Assam police commandos, launch book titled – Assam’s
Braveheart Lachit Barphukan – at the Srimanta Sankardev International
Auditorium and inaugurate of the Brahmaputra Riverfront Development’s first
phase.
In view of Amit Shah’s scheduled visit, the
Assam Government has issued traffic restrictions and regulations in Guwahati
City.
All commercial goods carrying vehicles,
public transportation like ASTC buses, Inter-district buses and city buses, slow-moving
vehicles like E rickshaws, thela, and rickshaws will be regulated and
restricted on GS Road, Punjabari Road, B Barooah Road, GNB Road, MG Road, and
AT Road from 12 noon till 7 pm on that day.
All commercial goods carrying vehicles will
be restricted on NH27 from 12 noon till 7 pm and on NH17 from 4 pm till 8 pm on
that day.
The curbs will be relaxed for the
ambulances, fire brigade, other emergency vehicles and school buses.

personally reviewed the venue to ensure the smooth passage of the program.
