In response to the Central Government’s
announcement of a half-day closing in observance of the consecration ceremony
of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Reserve Bank of India or RBI declared that
money market trading will commence at 2:30 pm and conclude at 5:00 pm on January
22.
The RBI clarified that the settlement of
the auction of the Centre dated securities, which took place on January 19,
will be executed on January 22, after the initiation of market trading hours at
2:30 pm. Furthermore, the central bank stated that regular market trading hours
will be reinstated with effect from January 23.
To celebrate the upcoming pran prathishtha
ceremony, scheduled to be a significant event nationwide, many BJP-ruled States,
including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Chhattisgarh and Haryana, have declared
public holiday on January 22.
The Trust overseeing the ceremony has
made elaborate arrangements, with a team of priests, including the renowned
Lakshmikant Dixit, set to lead the primary rituals of the pran pratistha.
Uttar Pradesh has announced a holiday
for educational institutions, accompanied by the closure of liquor shops Statewide
on the day.
In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan
Yadav has proclaimed a school holiday, encouraging citizens to celebrate the
day as a festival. The State will observe a dry day, with all shops, including
liquor and bhang outlets, remaining closed.
Similarly, Goa, Chhattisgarh, and
Haryana have joined in, declaring a public holiday for government employees and
schools to commemorate the ceremony on January 22.
