Union Home Minister Amit Shah actively
participated in a cleanliness drive at the historic Mahabhairab Temple in
Tezpur district of Assam, showcasing his commitment to community initiatives.
Earlier in the day, Shah addressed the
71st Plenary Session of the Northeast Council in Shillong, where he emphasized
the transformative decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During the Plenary Session, Amit Shah
applauded the achievements of the Modi Government over the past ten years,
particularly focusing on infrastructure development and conflict resolution in
the Northeast.
Describing this period as a “golden era”
for the region, Shah highlighted the substantial progress made, steering the
Northeast away from historical challenges such as blockades and unrest towards
a vision of a peaceful and developed region.
Taking to the microblogging site, Shah
expressed his optimistic outlook, stating, “The last 10 years of the Modi Government
have been a golden era for the Northeast.”
He acknowledged the unprecedented
emphasis on infrastructure and conflict resolution, signalling a positive shift
in the region’s trajectory.
Paying tribute to the “Bravehearts of
Assam Rifles”, Amit Shah mentioned their sacrifices made for the security of Bharat
are “unparalleled”. He commemorated the martyrs by laying a wreath at the War
Memorial at Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles.

Union Minister of DoNER and NEC Vice
Chairman G Kishan Reddy felicitated Amit Shah during the event. The Plenary
Session was attended by Chief Ministers Conrad K Sangma, Himanta Biswa Sarma,
Neiphu Rio, Lalduhawma, Pema Khandu, and Prem Sing Tamang, representing various
Northeastern States.
NEC Secretary Moses Challai presented
the action plan for 2023-24 and the progress made on the NEC Vision 2047
document.
The meeting also featured briefings from
the Secretary to the Ministry of DoNER, Chanchal Kumar, and presentations on
key focus areas for the council, including investment policies, industry 4.0,
logistics, and regional trade development.
The collective efforts showcased the
commitment to the holistic development of the Northeast region.
