During the inauguration event of the new Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center campus held in Bengaluru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on January 19, where both leaders shared the stage. In the midst of the PM’s address, the crowd erupted into loud cheers chanting ‘Modi Modi’.
Glancing at CM Siddaramaiah, PM Modi said “Mukhyamantri ji aisa hota rehta hai (roughly translated to: Chief Minister Ji, this keeps happening)”. The Congress leader was caught smiling uncomfortably while scratching his head.
Over the course of the event, PM lauded the strides made by Bharat in aviation and aerospace and the increasing role of women in the sector, while asserting that the country is set to take the global aviation market by surprise.
His address post the inauguration of aircraft maker Boeing’s new global engineering and technology centre campus near Bangalore, he extensively talked about women who were leading in the aviation and aerospace sector, be it fighter or civil aircraft. The constitution of which is close to 15 per cent of the total pilots in Bharat, which is threefolds of the global average. Modi informed that the time for women-led development has come.
Bharat, he said, stands as the third major domestic aviation market in the world and, in a decade, the number of passengers is bound to double. Additionally, the ‘UDAN’ scheme has played a pivotal role in enhancing the domestic aviation market, the PM said.
Owing to the increasing demand, airlines in Bharat have ordered hundreds of aircraft. “Bharat is set to provide new energy to the global aviation market” he said.
Further, he notified of giving priority to connectivity infrastructure making Bharat a well connected market. Taking a jibe at the Congress, he said that Bharat previously was unable to transform its potential into performance.
