Fifty Shades of Grey’ star Jamie Dornan was hospitalised after he underwent heart attack-like symptoms, the cause of which were toxic caterpillars. The incident happened during Dornan’s vacation in Portugal, as per The New York Post.
Dornan, on a boys’ trip with “Good Morning Britain” presenter Gordon Smart along with their other friends found themselves mysteriously ill.
BBC’s “The Good, the Bad and the Unexpected” podcast got the information out of Smart’s mouth that they first thought they’d had too many drinks the night before. However, the culprit turned out to be pine processionary caterpillars that are toxic in nature.
Smart, while conversing, said, “We had a lovely time the first day, played loads of golf, went out and drank lots of wine and then we moved onto espresso martinis. But the very next day, we were all absolutely dreadful.”
Smart recalled how the very first day of their vacation, he experienced a “tingling in his left hand and tickling in his left arm”. His first thought was of the start of a heart attack.
Upon reaching the hospital, he found out that his resting heart rate was found to be extremely high. When he was eventually discharged, he returned to the hotel to find Dornan sick this time.
Jamie said, “Dear me. Gordon, after 20 minutes of your leaving, my left arm went numb, my left leg went numb and my right leg went numb. I found myself in the back of an ambulance.”
Further sharing, he said that as Dornan left the hospital, “The paramedics asked for a selfie with him which is exactly what you want when you’re in the middle of being wheeled out of a hospital room.”
“In turning events, there are caterpillars on golf courses in the south of Portugal that have been the cause behind the killing of people’s dogs and giving men in their 40s heart attacks,” Smart said.
