Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to
commence the campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with an electoral rally
in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr on January 25, as per sources within the
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This strategic move follows the Ram Lalla Pran
Pratishtha Samaroh in Ayodhya earlier this week and is designed to connect with
voters in the western Uttar Pradesh city.
Party workers and BJP leaders are
actively involved in preparations, expecting a substantial turnout for the
rally. With the BJP holding eight out of 14 seats in western Uttar Pradesh, PM
Modi aims to reverse the results from 2019, where the party faced defeats in
six constituencies.
Anticipating around five lakh attendees,
the BJP believes PM Modi’s rally in Bulandshahr will rally support, featuring a
public meeting in Bulandshahr’s Navada village on January 25. The PM’s strategic
approach aims to resonate with voters in previously contested areas, sharing a
winning mantra for the upcoming elections.
In other political developments,
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, after announcing an alliance with
Rashtriya Lok Dal for the Lok Sabha polls, hinted at further discussions with
Congress to finalize a seat-sharing formula in the State.
Emphasizing the need for a strong
alliance, Yadav held a meeting in Lucknow with party leaders, focusing on
winnability as the criterion for seat decisions. He urged party workers to
ensure the registration of supporters in the new voter list while accusing the
BJP Government of removing some party workers’ names from the list.
The Congress and Samajwadi Party
continue their seat-sharing talks in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha
polls expected in April-May this year.
