Actor Eva Mendes is delighted for her partner, Ryan Gosling’s nomination for an Oscar. She congratulated him for his role of Ken in Greta Gerwig’s directorial film ‘Barbie’, as per Deadline.
Eva Mendes wrote on her Instagram handle about Gosling’s achievement while congratulating him for the nomination, irrespective of all the criticism he received before the film was released.
“Extremely proud of my man. He received so much hate when he took on this role where so many people are trying to shame him for doing it. Irrespective of all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely authentic and original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars,” Eva mentioned in her post.
Gosling’s Barbie co-star and fellow Oscar nominee, America Ferrera, further commented praises to also praise the actor for his work.
“He is brilliant as Ken!” Ferrera replied. “Pulled off a triple somersault performance! We’re very lucky it was him and I’m so thankful for the way he showed up with his superstardom, and carries on to continue to showcase support for all the women in this process! He is a class act who is insanely deserving and talented.”
Mendes’ reply to Ferrera’s comment read, “Felicidades!!! I love you hermana!!! Bravo to YOU, Reina!!”
Gosling, a day prior, put out a statement extending his support to Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, who were snubbed in the Best Director and Best Actress categories, respectively.
“There exists no Ken without Barbie, and no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film,” Gosling voiced in the statement. “There is no recognition possible for anyone in the film without their talent, grit and genius. To say that I’m disappointed for their non-nomination in respective categories would be an understatement,” reported Deadline.
