During the second Foundation Day celebrations of the Citizen Action Party-CAP, Ganesh Kumar Rai was officially declared as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming elections in Sikkim. This announcement marks a significant milestone for CAP as it prepares to challenge the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Party (SKM) in the 2024 elections.
CAP, led by Ganesh Rai, was established in January 2023 with a pledge to instigate positive change and address the pressing issues facing the people of Sikkim. Rai’s declaration as the Chief Ministerial candidate solidifies CAP’s intent to provide a viable alternative to the current political landscape.
During the party’s inception, Rai didn’t shy away from criticizing the SKM, accusing them of corruption and prioritizing the interests of their leaders over the welfare of the public. He highlighted the alleged failure of the SKM to fulfil its electoral promises, particularly regarding the representation of the Limboo-Tamang communities in the State Assembly.
Asserting CAP’s commitment to transparency and accountability, Rai vowed to fulfil the party’s promises without resorting to excuses, contrasting with what he perceived as the shortcomings of the current government. With determination in his voice, Rai proclaimed, “The countdown has begun, and CAP will form the government in 2024.”
The declaration of Ganesh Kumar Rai as the Chief Ministerial candidate signals CAP’s resolve to usher in a new era of governance in Sikkim, centered on integrity, inclusivity, and progress.
