Former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish
Shettar has made a significant political move by rejoining the Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP) after a brief stint with the Congress. Shettar cited the desire to
contribute to Narendra Modi’s leadership and strengthen the BJP’s prospects in
the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as key motivations behind his return.
Shettar’s re-entry into the BJP comes
after a period of concerted efforts spanning five to six months, with State
president BY Vijayendra and veteran leader BS Yediyurappa playing instrumental
roles in facilitating his return.
He emphasized the grassroots support
from BJP workers and the encouragement from both State and national leadership
as pivotal factors influencing his decision.
Expressing his commitment to the party’s
agenda, Shettar pledged to work tirelessly to ensure the BJP secures a
significant victory in Karnataka, aiming to surpass the 25-seat mark achieved
in the previous Lok Sabha elections.
He reiterated his allegiance to the BJP,
highlighting his longstanding association with the party and familial ties
dating back to the Jana Sangh era.
Shettar’s decision to rejoin the BJP
underscores his belief in Narendra Modi’s leadership and the vision for Bharat’s
economic and strategic growth on the global stage.
He expressed satisfaction over the
realization of the Ram Mandir dream in Ayodhya under Modi’s leadership,
reminiscing about his past involvement in coordinating BJP veteran LK Advani’s
Ratha Yatra.
Addressing earlier criticisms of the BJP’s
condition, Shettar expressed optimism about the party’s trajectory, stressing
the importance of collective efforts to address challenges and rebuild the
organization. He affirmed his commitment to strengthening the BJP, urging unity
and perseverance among party members.
Shettar’s return to the BJP signals a
significant development in Karnataka’s political landscape, with implications
for the party’s electoral prospects and internal dynamics as preparations
intensify for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
