In a significant move towards promoting cultural understanding and religious inclusivity, madrasas affiliated with the Uttarakhand Waqf Board are set to integrate the life story of Lord Ram into their curriculum starting March 2024.
This progressive decision, unveiled by Uttarakhand Waqf Board Chairman Shadab Shams, also a prominent BJP leader, aims to modernize madrasa education and foster a deeper appreciation for diverse religious traditions.
Shams highlighted the universal values embodied by Lord Ram and emphasized that the inclusion of his life story has received support from Muslim clerics, who recognize the importance of religious diversity and harmony.
The initiative seeks to provide students with insights into the lives of both Lord Ram and Prophet Mohammad, fostering a comprehensive understanding of different faiths and cultures.
Initially, the modern syllabus will be introduced in madrasas located in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, and Nainital districts, under the oversight of the Uttarakhand Waqf Board.
Shams expressed enthusiasm for instilling the values epitomized by Lord Ram, particularly his commitment to fulfilling familial duties and moral obligations.
He stated, “The study of Shri Ram will be introduced in the Madrasas affiliated with the Waqf Board as part of our madrasa modernization programme from March this year. Someone who gave up the throne and went to the forest to help his father keep a commitment! Who wouldn’t want to have a son like Shri Ram.”
