Several significant National Conference leaders such as its Kathua district president, shook hands with the BJP in a jolt to the Farooq Abdullah-led party in the Jammu region. Additionally, many supporters along with district office bearers also made the switch from the National Conference to the BJP at the party’s headquarters in Jammu, with Ravinder Raina, the BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit chief, and other leaders welcoming the new entrants.
Raina, over the course of the programme, discussed BJP’s commitment to the welfare of the people, irrespective of their region or religion.
“The contribution and achievement of BJP in the field of health care, education, infrastructure building and socio-economic development are historic,” Raina said.
Further, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and how it attributed to the nation’s unity and progress to his “dedicated efforts”.
Highlighting the BJP’s inclusive approach, senior BJP leader Devinder Singh Rana, said that every new entrant is welcome into its fold with love and camaraderie.
Sanjeev Khajuria, former head of the National Conference’s Kathua district unit prior to joining the BJP, pointed out the ground-level impact of the Modi government’s welfare schemes and hailed the prime minister’s leadership for Bharat’s standing on the world stage.
Former deputy chief minister and senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta, in a different event, encouraged the cadres to strengthen the party at the booth level to ensure a win in the upcoming poll battles.
Addressing a gathering which saw a large women turnout before joining the party, Gupta stressed on the BJP’s commitment towards serving the people and addressing the challenges faced by Jammu and Kashmir.
He put stress on the significance of reaching out to voters, primarily the women and the youngsters, to counter the opposition parties’ narratives.
Welcoming the new members, Senior leader Rekha Mahajan, urged them to work with utmost dedication to cement BJP’s base at the booth level.
